KENTUCKY BOARD OF LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION FOR DIETITIANS AND NUTRITIONISTS

The Board of Dietitians and Nutritionists administers and enforces the statutory authority and monitors the needs of the consuming public. The board licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of dietetics and nutrition. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. The board conducts formal hearings when necessary and prosecutes by due process any violators of KRS 310.

You can contact us at 502-892-4254 or DN@ky.gov or click here for more contact information.

The passage of House Bill 36, which became law effective July 15, 2026, requires the board to conduct criminal background checks on new applicants by means of a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check. The board has filed the appropriate paperwork to be authorized to receive this information from the FBI and does not have an estimated response time. The board is aware that this is causing applications filed on or after July 15 to be delayed and is actively reviewing all potential solutions. See KRS 310.095 for more information.
