Your license renewal should be submitted online with your eServices account.
License Renewal Instructions
Click here for instructions on how to submit your online renewal. The deadline is October 31 annually. The Department of Professional Licensing suggests completing your renewal at least two weeks before the renewal date.
Licensing Renewal and Expiration Date Explained: The online renewal typically opens 90 days prior to October 31. Renewals submitted by October 31 are not subject to late fees. Licensees may still renew from November 1-December 31 (the 60-day grace period) but with late fees. All licenses not renewed by the expiration date of December 31 will expire and that is the last day you may legally practice and bill for services. See KRS 310.050 and 201 KAR 33:020.

FBI Criminal Background Check Instructions
Kentucky law now requires new applicants for licensure or license reinstatements with Kentucky Board of Licensure & Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists to undergo a criminal background check by means of a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check.
Please follow the steps below to obtain the required background check. The board will receive the results directly from the Kentucky State Police. Your application cannot move forward for a full review by the board until this background check has been received. It can take 5 to 10 business days from your appointment with IdentoGO for the board to receive the results.
To undergo an FBI criminal background check, complete the following steps:
1. Schedule your fingerprint appointment at uenroll.identogo.com using the board's IdentoGO service code 27GKZ8.
2. Bring an identification document to your fingerprint appointment. Applicants are responsible for fees associated with this background check. Examples of acceptable identification documents are:
- Driver's License issued by a State or outlying possession of the U.S.
- Driver's License PERMIT issued by a State or or outlying possession of the U.S.
- Commercial Driver's License issued by a State or or outlying possession of the U.S.
- ID card issued by a federal, state, or local government agency or by a Territory of the U.S.
- Enhanced Tribal Identification Card (for federally recognized U.S. tribes)
- Uniformed Services Identification Card (Form DD-1172-2)
- U.S. Military Identification Card
- U.S. Passport
3. Completed fingerprints will be sent to Kentucky State Police, who will send a completed background check directly to the board.
Applicants who previously applied with all required paperwork have been pre-reviewed and will have expedited processing once the results of the background check are received.
For new applicants, please note the following important dates that can impact when an application can receive a final review.
